Door Handing
Left Hand? Right Swing? Left Hinge?
The manufacturing industry standard is to call a door by it's HANDING. Finding your door's HANDING can be done in 2 easy steps.
Step 1. Stand on the correct side of the door. Stand facing the door with the door closed. Can you see the hinges? If you can see the hinges, you are on the correct side of the door. If you can't see the hinges, stand on the other side of the door. (example: if your door swings into a room, stand inside the room. If your door swings into a hallway, stand inside the hallway)
Step 2. Where is the door knob?
If the door knob is on the left, it's a LEFT HAND door.
If the door knob is on the right, it's a RIGHT HAND door.
